This Shabbat -parashat Vayishlach

This Shabbat, we read: Bereishit 32: 4-36,45    (Genesis)

Jacob is frettin.  He heard that Esav, his brother is coming towards him with about 400 men.  Last time he had anything to do with his brother Esav, Esav was wanting him dead for having taken the blessings from their father Yitzchok.

He gets an idea to send him gifts after gifts after gifts in the hopes of winning him over. Will it work?!

Mechon Mamre will say!

(This is the parasha where Jacob wrestles with the mysterious "Why-should-I-Tell-You-My-Name" angel.

Revenge of the Psychedelic DayDream Monster - And Musings

Sleep is not my friend. Most things related to sleep are not my friends. Things related to sleeping would be: working --things I have to do in a drone-like fashion.

And yet, every night I'm faced with this task of sleeping.  It doesn't come easy.  I lay on the bed and usually I can fall a sleep pretty nicely.  But at around 2am, my eyes just open. It opens and can't close back.  Now, I can move about and busy myself and do stuff.  But then I end up being a shmatta, a rag, during the regular day time.

So I have to stay on the bed.  Either I get a little light and read ---that is the best!  Or sometimes, I resort to daydreaming. I make up a family in my head and all sorts of adventures for them. But then the story grows and grows and gets a life of its own and then soon, it wants to spill into the regular day time hours.  During regular day time hours, I'll feel this urge to run under the covers and day dream some more.

If I"m not careful, this day dream can become more "important" than the real life situations -especially if there is something in real life that I don't want to face.

Back in the day, during a time of abuse in my life,  it was a life saver. A relief.  But now, I have to slay this monster everytime it rears its head.  Like an alcoholic that has to watch out for his driniking, i think...

But day dreaming and thinking about things does have its pluses --which is why its so attractive- and as long as I keep it contained its rather okay

Anyway, that is some of my night time, day dream musings.

How are you readers? What's up?

Hilary Clinton -to visit Israel

Hilary Clinton is set to visit Israel. Curious what will be said behind closed doors.  Definitely NOT going to be anything like Glenn Beck's message, but we can hope...

I like that the Iron Dome is called the Iron Dome, in Hebrew its the " Iron Kippah" (kippat barzel). Here's a video of this kippah at work...

The Jewish people are one of the few people who actually have a deed to the land, a document that says Israel should be ours. Something like that can probably make many "take over" nations hate us and want us gone for how can they look at the people that lived in the land before them with a serious face?

Nevertheless, if we do not keep our side of the bargain, than what good is that document.  We have to keep Shabbat, eat kosher, and do the mitzvot and celebrate the festivals so that we can claim Israel.

The Whole You -Conclusion

Shalom Friends,

Here is the link to the conclusion of the exciting adventures of the Barzel family. I hope you thoroughly enjoy yourself!! Thank you for reading and G-d bless. Love you guys!!

Barzel Family Adventure

Please visit the Adventures in the Holy Land blog for a new exciting adventures with the Barzel family.

This story is called, "The Whole You"

Summary: Yaakov and Gideon learn that one must be whole and content to ward away temptors.

Bond --Not James Bond

To all the goodly people of the world who appreciate conservative values, who want good for their children, who can think critically and who are able bodied, Let's BOND!

Now I would like to take this opportunity to weed out the fluffy, misty eyed, we-love-the world, "there is no bad here, only withering flowers" type. These type of people, bless their hearts, are so tired of the evil in the world, that they just mentally place themselves in the redemption already -as if, that will erase the current situation we are in.

Did you know that European nations are offering aid to African nations only on the condition that they accept gay marriage?

There is probably more going on that is swept under the rug. But truth must prevail and the good must be victorious.

Noahide Nation: Why is This Nation Different from all the Other Nations?

On Passover we do many things different. So much so that there is the requisite child question which is: "Why is this night different from all the other nights?"  Its even a song.

A great "YES!" moment is when a child unprompted, sees that the Passover night is different, i.e. we eat matzot instead of bread, we wash ahead of time, etc., they ask of their own accord, "why are we doing things different this night from the other nights?"  Yes!!

Anyway, so who are the Noahides? Those are the many people who choose to live at the very least according to the seven laws of Noah.

Here are the seven laws:

    1. Prohibition of Idolatry
    2. Prohibition of Murder
    3. Prohibition of Theft
    4. Prohibition of Sexual Immorality
    5. Prohibition of Blasphemy
    6. Prohibition of eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive
    7. Establishment of courts of law

(courtesy of wikipedia)

These laws are gathered and compiled from the "Christian Old Testament"  or really from the Tannakh. I say at the very least because really they can take on other mitzvot from the Torah.

So, how is this nation different from all the other nations?

Well first of all, they are the only non-Jewish group that goes according to the Torah. That right there eliminates many other nations. But Islam did take some of its teachings from the Jewish faith, so would that be right up there with Islam?

The way --derech eretz of a Noahide would probably be most comparable to that of the Jews.  Sharia -the word for "the Path" in Islam is almost antithetical to Judaism.   With the Noahides learning and undersrtanding derech eretz, they are most apt to understand the spirit of the Torah more than any other non-(practicing) Jewish groups.

So, there you have it!

Another interesting thing about Noahides, is that where ever they are, whatever actual land space that they are in, there they create part of the Noahide global community.  Imagine if they traded together, visited one another? build with each other and held hands across the globe, what a wonderful world it would be!

Breaking news...

Israel  Defense Force struck and killed Hamas military head via air.

This causing retaliation from Hamas, firing yet more missiles into Israel, Beer Sheva, one aimed at Dimona.

There is unconfirmed report that Syria is attempting something in northern Israel -in the Golan. This is from ARabic media so...

Neshama News

news from an Emuna perspective

Congratulations goes to Barrack Housein Obama, the people's choice!! It was a tight race and an amazing race.  With the media backing incumbant President Obama, Mitt Romney had a few media outlets to push his program and the three debates in which to push --along with the road campaign.  However, there were many Americans who, even though they weren't crazy about Mitt Romney, would rather vote for anyone other than Barrack Obama. Its a tell tale very divided America.  I hope the president has the ability to bring America together.

As a result of the elections, there are many states (Texas, Louisana) that are attempting to request secession from America. They want to become their own country and not be a part of America --until the next election?

In Europe, as you recall Muslims have reached a certain amount where they feel empowered to demand sharia to be the law of the land.  Now Europeans have created a counter group:  In France, its the Generation Identitaire. In other countries, there are other groups which I will hopefully research and report.

Superstorm Sandy's devastations are still being sorted through as many still without power, no place to live are trying to find their way.  Great time for chessed (acts of kindness): Yay for Apple, Anhauser Busch, Cox Enterprise, many more! You can donate too at RED CROSS.

Derailment for the "Enlightened" Hebrew Israelites

For those rare Hebrew Israelites who actually found a way to reject hate from their hearts and seek to be a part of the Jewish people....

There are many people who will seek to derail your efforts.  The latest that I've seen are Black folks who claim to be "rabbinical Jews" and somehow they have access to Torah books, and they lure awakened Hebrew Israelites and other black folks to their version of "rabbinical Judaism."  Something that has no relationship with the actual Jewish people what so ever. No conversion necessary.  I guess these are some new offshoot branch, just like messianic, commandment keepers or well, Hebrew Israelite.

Just a warning.

Quotable Quotes

"I voted for Barack because he was black..."
Samuel L. Jackson, Actor.

from Ebony Magazine Feb 13 2012

Seriously, I have seen so many videos of non-Democratic African Amerians tearing their own fellow African American democrats for their choice of voitng for Obama.

I understand their concern political and for the future of America, but calling them names such as "negros" and "monkeys", spewing vitriol and hatred... If I didn't know any better, i'd think deep down they had a complete disrespect and possibly even hatred for their own Black skin! I mean, how can someone degrade another so?!

Is it such an impossibility that those who voted for Obama did so out of logic? Even those "interesting" ones who screech about getting an Obama phone, It may not be everyone's logic, but it is a thought process none the less (as opposed to a mindless monkey just reacting).  I mean, what if they were happy with the state of affairs and didn't care much for world affairs?  As long as they have food and clothing they are fine, so why not vote for someone who validates them?  If all politicians lie, then why not vote for your "favorite" one?

I wasn't pro-Obama, but to destroy the image of G-d in the people who did vote for him is too much!

Last of a Breed? the Pro-Israel Black Jew

Many of the Black Jews that I met and connected with in Israel tend to be much older than I am.  Them and their children. Most of the ones I know are pro-Israel, love the country, etc.

Many of the younger ones I meet, not in Israel, but on the internet, I can't say that I sense that they are strong Israel supporters.  They'll never say this to my face or to the face of any Jew, I don't think. But this is what I sense.

I wonder about this....

A New Beginning

I have a very dear friend who was talking to me about herself and her husband.  She said that she said to her would be husband, "you are socially awkward!"  and the man replied, "so what's wrong with being socially awkward?"  and that gave her pause.

I saw this very interesting video by Bill Whittle. Here it is...

It was inspiring for me in many ways, but there was a few points I wanted to make.

There are certain segments of the American population that actually have felt being very cold or very hot; who have been in real danger, even killed. etc.

Drug addicts, people living under the poverty level (true its not like Thailand), gays, disenfranchised people --they have been hurt, they have felt danger.

However, the problem occurs when these people think that their "problems" are unfixable. As if there is no way around their situation.

Its like a race and some people are starting far back away from the start line while others are at the start line.   For those way behind the start line, if they can understand that they can still be "virtuous" and that there is just a few other steps to take, I think it would make a world of difference.  If they saw their "labels" as just that, "labels" without emotions attached to it, I think it would make a difference. Or, if they could illiminate their labels altogether and begin to work towards their goals, their idea of success --that too would make a world of difference and encourage them to become "vituous" people.

America's Obama

Obama was elected for another 4 years as President of the United States of America.

Romney, for someone who didn't have the backing of most mainstream media, did will for himself which was a near tie.

The next four years should be interesting.
